Bishop of Oakland Speaks Out on Public Funding of Abortion

This morning, Bishop Salvatore Cordileone of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland, California was interviewed on Fox News America's Newsroom on the topic of the pro-abortion provisions in the Senate health care legislation. Bishop Cordileone laid out with great clarity why the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is supporting Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI) and his fellow pro-life Democrats. What Bishop Cordielone said is something that all pro-life people can agree on, no matter what their faith.

Farewell to a friend!

I just learned that my high school friend, Ace Natividad (picture above), passed away at 6:25am (March 11, Manila time) due to pneumonia. This was barely a few hours after I posted my earlier request for prayers.

Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. Requiescat in pace. Amen. (Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.)

Thank you very much for the prayers already offered. I have yet no news on Fr. Galdon, except that he is quite weak already and near death. Please continue to pray for him as well.

Urgent prayer request for two friends (both have passed away)

Update from the Friends of Fr. Joseph Galdon, S.J. Faceboook Group:

Our dear Fr. G peacefully passed away at 5:30 am, Monday, March 15, 2010, Manila.

Kindly say a prayer for the eternal repose of his soul.

The remains of Fr. Galdon will lie in state at the College Chapel starting March 15. There will be a 8pm mass on March 15,16 & 17 and a 8am mass on March 18. His remains will then be brought to Sacred Heart Novitiate on March 18 for his burial.

I’ve just been informed that my high school batchmate, Ace Natividad, is at Lourdes Hospital (Mandaluyong City, Philippines) fighting for survival against pneumonia. Also, the same is happening with a Jesuit priest, Fr. Joseph Galdon, SJ, retired English professor at the Ateneo de Manila University (Fr. Galdon has already been anointed). Please join me in praying for them:

Most merciful Jesus, the Consolation and Salvation of all who put their trust in Thee, we humbly beseech Thee, by Thy most bitter Passion, grant recovery of health to thy servants, Ace Natividad and Fr. Joseph Galdon, provided this be for their soul’s welfare, that with us, they may praise and magnify Thy holy name. But if it be Thy holy will to call them out of this world, strengthen them in their last hour, grant them a peaceful death and bring them to life everlasting. Amen.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Not a toy!

I was doing my wife a favor of shopping for some toys, when I found this on our local Target's shelf:
As Father Z mentions on a recent post, they should be avoided since it opens up to all sorts of demonic oppression. Parents, please do yourself a favor and keep this away from your kids!
