Let Us Pray at Mass for Senator Kennedy

From the California Catholic Daily, come this interesting post:
Let Us Pray at Mass for Senator Kennedy
But Let us Not Call Him a Promoter of Peace, Justice, Equality, and Liberty

Following the passing of Senator Edward Kennedy last week, Liturgical Training Publications, an agency of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago, sent out an updated version of their Prayers of the Faithful for August 30, the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time. Liturgical Training Publications send these prayers to subscribing Pastors and parishes.

This updated prayers of the faithful include this: "For those who have given their lives to service to their country, promoting values of peace, justice, equality, and liberty; especially, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, that he may find his eternal reward in the arms of God….We pray.”

To pray for Senator Kennedy as one who promoted peace, justice, equality, and liberty, ignoring the 49 million+ babies killed through legalized abortion, would be simply to pray a lie at Mass. Senator Kennedy’s pro-abortion voting record is well known. He voted against the ban partial birth abortion. He voted against the ban on human cloning. He voted to expand embryonic stem-cell research. The list could be extended. He has a 100% rating from the National Abortion Rights Action League.

Please call or email Liturgical Training Publications. Respectfully request that they immediately send out an amended prayer: “For all our beloved dead, especially (particular parish intentions) and for Senator Edward M. Kennedy, that they may find their eternal reward in the arms of God…We Pray.” Also call or email the Archdiocese of Chicago. Respectfully request that they instruct Liturgical Training Publications to send the amended prayer

Promotional Posters for the Traditional Latin Mass

Such beautiful posters! A good way of promoting the beauty of the Traditional Latin Mass to the mainstream Catholic. These ads were produced by the Una Voce Quad Cities. They are planning to release versions in local papers, internet sites, etc. and also making versions (with modified information) available for a nominal fee to other groups promoting the TLM. Thanks to Rorate Caeli for the heads-up!

Diocese of Pasig (Philippines): Clerical Attire Required

I happen to browse on the blog of my former Diocese (Pasig, Philippines -- where I grew up), when I saw this very interesting post:

MAY 27, 2009 - "Effective today, all priests in the diocese of Pasig, whether incardinated or guest priests, should always wear clerical attire when they go to their office and other official functions in or outside the parish."

This was announced by Pasig Bishop Francisco C. San Diego, D.D. in circular 2009 005.

Invoking Canon 284, "Clerics are to wear suitable ecclesiastical dress in accordance with the norms established by by the Episcopal conference and legitimate customs", the bishop also announced that during liturgical celebrations, priests should always wear the sotana or alb with the chasuble as demanded by proper church decorum.

"I pray that all will be properly guided by this policy, all for the greater glory of God that all may be one!" the bishop said.

Kudos to Bishop San Diego! It's about time the identity of the priesthood is made visible once again. Once, when the Holy Father Pope John Paul II ordained Msgr. Gilles Wach - Founder and Prior General of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, upon learning that he was from France, said to him "You are French. Keep the cassock!". How I wish the other dioceses would follow.

Blessing of Our Lady's Garden on the Feast of the Assumption (081509)

On the Feast of our Lady's Assumption (August 15, 2009), Canon Jean-Marie Moreau blessed Our Lady's Garden of Thomas & Diana Henriksson's house at Castro Valley, CA. The Henrikssons are the founders of the Seminary Society of St. Margaret Mary. The Seminary Society is a laity-led group of the parish contributing both material and spiritual support to the seminarians of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest in Gricigliano, Italy.

Picnic for Canon Moreau in occasion of St. Jean-Marie Vianney's feastday

Last week, the feast of St. Jean-Marie Vianney was celebrated in a special way to honor our very own Canon Jean-Marie Moreau. The Young Adults of St. Margaret Mary invited everyone to contribute to a special spiritual bouquet for Canon Moreau that was presented right after the Saturday low mass (Aug. 8, 2009). We all went to Crown Memorial State Beach in Alameda afterwards for a potluck picnic and spent an afternoon just enjoying the beach.

Someone put "100 Chores" at the bottom of the list. Quite interesting!

The following day (Sunday), the External Solemnity of St. Jean-Marie Vianney was celebrated, and after the mass, we had our usual reception. Canon Moreau made an important announcement about the weekly celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass at Five Wounds Portuguese National Church that will be starting on September.

August '09 First Friday Homily (080709)

Canon Moreau reflects on our Lord Jesus' revelation of his immense love for humanity, as revealed through his instrument of his Sacred Heart, St. Margaret Mary.

Feast of the Transfiguration Homily (080609)

Canon Moreau's gives a short meditation on the mystery of the Transfiguration. This mystery helps us to confirm our hope for glory, not of this world, but that of God's. The Resurrection of God is a reminder of this hope.

9th Sunday after Pentecost Homily (080209)

Canon Moreau gives his homily on why our Lord Jesus Christ wept for Jerusalem. Our Lord wept, foreseeing the loss of so many souls hardened in their sins, just like Jerusalem. The story of Jerusalem is a spiritual figure of what happens in our daily lives. Israel is a representation of the state of our soul.

8th Sunday after Pentecost Homily (072609)

Canon Moreau gives his homily on an important topic (but now seems to be forgotten in the modern world) of our Catholic faith: The individual judgement. Each person will have to give an account of his/her life to God. The two witnesses to our judgement are our guardian angel (who presents to God all the good works and virtues practiced) and the devil (our accuser of all the wicked deeds done).

Car Blessing (The Traditional Catholic Way!)

A fellow blogger, ThePinoyCatholic, posted this car blessing picture on his blog. Compare that with this one:

Canon Jean-Marie Moreau blessed our 1998 Toyota Camry, alongside with another parishioner's car (Boy, it took me months of searching before I finally settled this for my mom!) last Aug. 6 (Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ).

Life & Spirituality at the ICRSS Seminary (21 July 09)

Abbe Joel Estrada gave a presentation for the Young Adult Catechism Group of St. Margaret Mary's (Oakland, California, USA) last July 21, 2009, about life and spirituality at the seminary of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, located in Gricigliano, near Florence, Italy. He shares his story on how he got to know about the Institute, through St. Margaret Mary, when he used to be a parishioner back in 2006. Abbe Estrada is an incoming third year student at the St. Phillip Neri Seminary, but has spent the last couple of weeks of July assisting Canon Jean-Marie Moreau at the Institute Apostolate parish of St. Margaret Mary. Another similar presentation was given the following Tuesday (July 28) which was open to the rest of the parishioners, where a whole variety of topics not brought up during the Young Adult Group were discussed (video to be uploaded soon).
