Here are the conditions to gain plenary indulgences for the Poor Souls in Purgatory during the month of November. We must be 1) Free from all attachment to sin (it would be helpful to pray, from the heart, the "Act of Contrition"), 2) Receive Holy Communion on or near the day we perform the action required, 3) Go to Confession within eight days, 4) Visit a cemetery and pray, even mentally, for the dead (One Our Father, and One Creed) and pray for the intentions of the Pope (One Our Father, One Hail Mary, 1 Glory Be). The traditional prayers are Ps. 129 preceded by 5 Our Fathers and 5 Hail Mary's. One may also opt to pray a decade of the Rosary. Here follows Ps. 129:
SALMUS 129: DE PROFUNDIS (Latin)
De profundis clamavi ad te, Domine:
Domine, exaudi vocem meam:
Fiant aures tuae intendentes,
in vocem deprecationis meae.
Si iniquitates observaveris, Domine:
Domine, quis sustinebit?
Quia apud te propitiatio est:
et propter legem tuam sustinui te, Domine.
Sustinuit anima mea in verbo eius:
speravit anima mea in Domino.
A custodia matutina usque ad noctem:
speret Israel in Domino.
Quia apud Dominum misericordia:
et copiosa apud eum redemptio.
Et ipse redimet Israel,
ex omnibus iniquitatibus eius.
(If one has Holy Water, one may sprinkle Holy Water on the ground while praying this):
V. Requiem aeternam, dona eis Domine.
R. Et Lux perpetua luceat eis.
V. Requiescant in pace.
R. Amen.
V. Domine exaudi orationem meam.
R. Et clamor meus ad te veniat.
Oremus.
Fidelium Deus omnium conditor, et redemptor animabus famulorum, famularumque tuarum remissionem cunctorum tribue peccatorum: ut indulgentiam, quam semper optaverunt, piis supplicationibus consequantur. Qui vivis et regnas in saecula saeculorum.

PSALM 129: DE PROFUNDIS (English) —
Out of the depths I have cried to Thee, O Lord: * Lord, hear my voice.
Let Thy ears be attentive * to the voice of my supplication.
If Thou, O Lord, wilt mark iniquities: * Lord, who shall stand it?
For with Thee there is merciful forgiveness: * and by reason of thy law, I have waited for Thee, O Lord.
My soul hath relied on His word, * my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
From the morning watch even until night, * let Israel hope in the Lord.
Because with the Lord there is mercy: and with him plentiful redemption.
And he shall redeem Israel * from all his iniquities.
V: Eternal rest give unto them O Lord.
R: And let perpetual light shine unto them.
V: May their souls rest in peace.
R: Amen.
Let us pray:
O God the creator, and redeemer of all the faithful, give unto the souls of thy servants men, and women remission of all their sins: that through Godly supplications they may obtain the pardon which they have always wished for. Who livest and reignest world without end.
